When I went to Harvard Business School in 2021, I had a desire for ‘splendid creation’, yet not knowing what that meant to me. Being caught up in this seemingly paradoxical cycle, I was restless. I did not know where I belonged. Remaining orphan to my inner self felt quite cold. One autumn morning on campus, as I sat at the Baker’s Library reflecting on my journey of self-discovery, I suddenly felt a deep sense of gratitude wash over me, bringing in tears of acknowledgement. I felt immensely thankful to a higher power, my parents, my family…… the ‘greater community’ for nurturing me, giving me opportunities and constantly shaping me. And at that moment, I realised that ‘my purpose’ for my desire of ‘splendid creation’ is to create something wonderful by giving back to People and the Planet in a sustainable manner for a sustainable future. The inspiration for velOzity came to me in July 2022, during my Capstone event at business school when I met Pranav in the program. Prior to attending HBS, Pranav was with Accenture in Retail and Supply Chain Logistics, with strategy and execution of ERP being one of his core expertise. His unique idea of locating the fastest-selling products for retailers into a nimble and flexible distributed near-mile fulfilment network for same-day delivery instantly drew my attention. I saw the opportunity how we can create a people-powered fulfilment network for a better future for the community while reducing logistics impact on the environment. My eyes sparkled with joy, and my heart raced with anticipation of the journey ahead. We both knew that this path would not be easy, but we were ready to face the challenges head-on. My heart was full, my mind was clear, and my soul was at peace. I was ready to embark on this journey of splendid creation, knowing that I was exactly where I meant to be….. And ‘velOzity’ was conceived in October 2022. No longer must you choose between fast, sustainable or affordable same-day delivery.
